ICS #26 Guest Designer

Even though I'm away I've scheduled this post because I'm once again honored to be guest desinger for ICS for the week. Love the sketch this week because blocking techniques can be challenging but I love the clean simple effect they create. That fun sentiment is from the July release of Digiments and you can get the entire collection for only $10! Be sure to check out what all the other fabulous designers did at ICS this week.

Sketch Girl

I am so proud to say that I will be designing for Sketch Girl. It is a brand new card sketch site. The first sketch went live this week and I'm so excited to share with you my take. The sketches will be every two weeks so you'll have plenty of time to join in on the fun. Also in the next few challenges there will be prizes so head on over and become a follower so you can stay up to date on all the latest. Besides using the fun Sketch Girl sketch I used the Use It challenge. The challenge was monochromatic (one color with a neutral, for me black), a favorite stamp, a tag, and a layered flower. I know its kind of odd to see a Halloween card but I bought these stamps after Halloween and I've really been wanting to use them so I finally gave in. The paper is from the Rock Queen stack from DCWV.

Weekend Scrapping

This first card is for GCD Studios Bold and Simple contest. I lov using their product and usually projects I make with their paper do turn out quite simple because the papers really stand out. Also the tags make for quick cards and LOs because they make a great focal feautre or fast journaling.

This card combines the Pile It On challenge with one of the challenges at 365 Cards. Pile It On was a sketch this week and the 365 Cards challenge was to use paper piercing. Not a technique I've ever really used but I like the look and its super simple.

Digiments Release Day

Today is the Digiments July release! There are 24 brand new Digiments for sale for only $10! Here is my card featuring the Sistah line. Check out the site for more examples of how to use these brand new sentiments.

Guest Designer for ICS

I'm so honored to be the guest designer at Inspirational Card Sketches for the next two weeks! Like many of you already know I loved this site and its talented lovely design team. I've been participating with them since pretty much the begining so I was very excited to be chosen as GD for two weeks. Thanks so much to Dawn and her team!

Pink Elephant and Blog Awards

Here's my entry into the Pink Elephant challenge this week. The challenge was to us strips and stars. My strips are the scalloped edges that come on the bottom of Sassafras Lass papers. My stars are the covered chipboard in the middle and hand drawn stars on the title letter stickers.

I was fortunate enough to receive two blog awards recently. The above award is from the lovely Janis. Here are the rules:
  1. By accepting this award you recognize that the giver'LIKES YOUR STYLE'.
  2. You agree to display this award proudly on your site, and include a post linking back to the giver.
  3. And because there are so many blogs out there which you like their style, you will share this award with them... however many that may be.

This second award is from Celina. Thanks so much! So the rules of this award are to post 7 other bloggers I adore and then post 7 things that no one knows about me. The following blogs are blogs I adore as well as blogs whose style I like.

And then 7 things you might not know about me:

1. Even though I'm going to be a teacher I'm officially a psych major
2. Even though I am only 21 I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years
3. I don't have a driver's license
4. I'm a vegetarian
5. I only like red sour patch kids but I will eat the orange ones
6. 90% of the time I am wearing Uggs because I love their boots and flip flops
7. My favorite present on my 5th birthday was my own library card

Cosmo Cricket Love and ICS 24

Here's my card for ICS 24. I haven't done all of the sketches this summer but I am resolved to try harder to get the ICS sketch in each week. The design team is so talented and super sweet making this one of my fave challenge sites. You might notice that the paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Hello Sunshine. This card came together rather quick because I have Cosmo Cricket on the brain and working with Hello Sunshine is easy because its so fun and bright. The reason I have Cosmo Cricket on the brain is because of their Sneak Peek Video Contest. I wasn't going to enter because I have no video skills but when I heard there weren't many entries and the odds of winning were pretty good I thought why not give it a shot. I have nothing to lose of course though I admit the video is a bit embarassing but home videos tend to be. But I'm going to risk embarassment to give you a good laugh and show you the video. Enjoy!

A Winner!

I wasn't sure how to use random.org considering some people had two entries so instead my boyfriend (a comp sci minor) offered to write a short program that would randomly choose a winner for me. And the winner is... Ladydoc! Congrats to her! Email me your address at jesmoyer @ gmail.com.

I have no new cards to share since most of my work lately has been for DTs but this is a LO I made a few weeks ago with some Sassafras Lass I found on clearance. This is my little cousin and her beloved dog, Dallas, on Easter. Dallas is such a good sport she let her 'mommy' put the ears on just long enough for a pic.

Card Patterns and Pink Elephant

This card was made with the Card Patterns sketch this week and the Pink Elephant challenge to use our favorite color combo. I think purple and yellow is a bit uncommon but very fun. I've made several of these paper flowers for swaps and a giveaway but I wanted to have one for myself so I made one for this card.

'Oh Say Can You See' Blog Hop

Welcome everyone to my stop on the Scrapbook News and Review "Oh Say Can You See" Blog Hop! If you came here from Sonia Kertznus you are on the right track. If not you can start from the beginning at SNR. I have a fun easy project to share and a little bit of blog candy to sweeten the hop.

First up here is my red, white, and blue project. I had this plastic packaging from a set of brads bought at Micheal's. Since my sister is a big fan of sweets and patriotic fun I thought I could add a little paper and some candy to make a gift. I trimmed the paper to fit the little compartments with SEI paper and put a themed candy in each one. That awesome little sentiment is from Digiments and part of the Patriotic collection of digital sentiments. These sentiments are incrdibly affordable and there is a wide range of sayings for many occasions. I'm currently working with the July release and am so excited to share it with you on the 18th.

Now onto the bit of blog candy! This is my 150th post! I didn't realize I would get so into blogging but its so much fun to particpate in challenges and connect with other bloggers. So between the post count and the blog hop I thought it would be a perfect time to celebrate with some candy. These are handmade paper flowers that I will package with some other (non-handmade) scrap goodies. All you have to do to win is leave a comment. Anyone who is a follower and leaves a comment will recieve two entries. You have until Sunday (7/5) at midnight to enter for the candy. Check back later in the week to see if you have won. Have a fabulous fourth and continue the blog hop at Paper Crafts, Pass It On! Happy hopping!

Caardvarks and Other News

I made a window card this past weekend with the ICS sketch but for the Caardvarks challenge I wanted to get a little more creative in fufuilling the window challenge. So for this card I used some plastic from packaging to create a shaker box window. The little sequins shake around the cute acetate bird from Friendly Forest. The paper is from We R Memory Keepers. I made this card for my little cousin's birthday. Most of the time she's around when I'm crafting or will craft with me so when the coast was clear I made this card for her.

These flowers all made with various GCD Studios papers are for a handmade flower swap I am part of at Let's Scrap. I think its such a fun idea for a swap and can't wait to see what my partner comes up with. These were made with a template that can be found here. She has some fabulous tutorials and projects that you should defintely check out.

This Saturday I will be participating in SNR's 4th of July Blog Hop. There will be 95 blogs on the hop! Each one will feature a red, white, and blue project and there will be blog candy offered on some blogs, including mine. So please stop by on Saturday I have a fun project and some red, white, and blue blog candy for vistors.
