Valentine Share

I created this card with a free digital image from the fabulous Sliekje. I adore her images and was delighted to discover that my printer is able to print on thick enough cardstock for copics and doesn't smear. Maybe this will help me slow down my spending on rubber and clear stamps. I am running out of room for them.

Newton's Nook Love Card

Today I was really excited to see I was one of the winners in the Newton's Nook Inky Paws challenge. I love their adorable stamps especially this cute little bear from Campfire Tails. I'm so excited to hear their new release will feature a stamp set with a new bear. Check out their Facebook page to vote on the bear's name and be entered to win the new set. The colorful strip behind the bear was created using the Distress Stain splatter technique shown on a video by Newton Nook's DT member Christine. Such a fun technique. It's great to have another way to use the Distress Stains. I bought them at the Ranger Warehouse sale with no idea what to do with them but am so happy I have them. The tie dye background around the bear was however just a mistake. There was some left over orange in my water brush and it mixed with the blue in a funky way that I like but was not going for. This card is great for the Simon Says Stamp Have a Heart challenge, The Pink Elephant Happy Valentine's Day challenge, and the Shopping Our Stash Love challenge

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #6 Card 3

Here is another card for the Inky Paws Challenge #6 which is a color challenge. So when looking at the Campfire Tails set earlier this week I had the idea of making a night time campfire scene with this bear who I absolutely adore. So I gave it a shot and after an hour or more of messing around it looked awful and I threw it out in frustration. But I decided I was not done with the idea so the next night a I tried again with a different game plan in mind. The background in Distress Ink and I fussy cut the bear and marshmallow stick colored with Copics. I took a lot of care to think about how the light coming off the fire would effect the scene (which is what made it such an epic fail the first time) but this time I'm happy with the way it turned out. In fact I'm not sure I'm ready to give this card away. I think it might just stay in my crafty space to remind me how it is important to persevere. Anyway go check out the challenge and their fabulous stamps. If a few more people enter they will be increasing the prize pool to two prizes and you can even use their free digital stamps. I'm also entering this into the washi tape challenge at Ribbon Carousel. I added some tapes last minute to tie in the challenge colors a bit more including the yellow and then the white grid print. This is probably a simple challenge for most crafters because those rolls of washi tape are too cute to resist sometimes so we all have some.

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #6 Card 2

The more recent Newton's Nook Inky Paws challenge is a color challenge. I love my Newton's Nook sets and so I decided the easiest way to approach the challenge would to be to color the image with the selected colors in Copics. Once I played with the colors the first time I loved them so much I had to go for round two. This card features the super cute bear from Campfire Tails. I love using him to make cards for Operation Write Home because I could see female soldiers sending him home to their sweethearts or sons. Go check out Newton's Nook because even if you don't have their stamps (which you totally should because they are adorable) you can download a free digi to play along.

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #6

The more recent Newton's Nook Inky Paws challenge is a color challenge. I love my Newton's Nook sets and so I decided the easiest way to approach the challenge would to be to color the image with the selected colors in Copics. This card features Wagon of Wishes. I also added a touch more coral with the twine which made this card perfect for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to use twine or string. Go check out Newton's Nook because even if you don't have their stamps (which you totally should because they are adorable) you can download a free digi to play along.
